About

Blake Lawrence is an interdisciplinary, practice-based researcher working across written, visual and performing arts. They are currently undertaking a Doctorate of Philosophy (Design) at the University of Technology Sydney, exploring situated posthuman aesthetics and materialities within Australian queer performance and adornment practices. Their research explores environmental collapse, loss, grief and insurgence within East-coast ecologies beside stories of queer experience, memory, place and belonging—historical and ever-present. They are devoted to offering comfort, love, and strength through embodied celebration of the many ways human and non-human beings, objects, and stories endure, resist, find pleasure and flourish in togetherness. They have exhibited locally and interstate, at Firstdraft, Seventh Gallery, C3 Contemporary, The Walls and Verge. They have presented live work at the Biennale of Sydney, in Brisbane’s Spring Hill Reservoirs, the Art Gallery of NSW and Newcastle’s This Is Not Art and have performed drag at Club Kooky, The Bearded Tit, Bad Dog, Tropical Fruits, Falls Festival and more.
