About

Nick Wales’ visceral, immersive and progressive music is a hybrid between classical forms, electronic and popular music.

Recent commissions include collaborations with choreographers Rafael Bonachela for Sydney Dance Company, Marina Mascarelle for Ballet de l'Opéra de Lyon, ‘Step Into Paradise’ Jenny Kee and Linda Jackson for the Powerhouse Museum and visual artists Hayden Fowler and Lauren Brincat for Australian Bienales.  

Nick has worked with choreographer Shaun Parker on a number of works including the Helpmann nominated score for ‘AM I’, the outdoor works ‘Spill’ and ‘Trolleys’, both commissioned for the London cultural Olympiad. He has scored a number of film and television projects including composing for the feature film Around the Block (2015 and ‘Bird Nerd - The Art Of Leila Jeffreys’.

While Wales' contemporary dance scores are both challenging and abstract, his pop sensibilities are undeniable. Traversing all genres as a founding member of classical-fusion band CODA, he has also collaborated with Sarah Blasko for a number of years, on her albums ‘I Awake’, ‘Depth of Field’ and ‘Eternal Return’ .
