About

Rachmania’s work lies in the intersection of Food and Performance. Her interest is in raising awareness of Indonesian tradition, especially theatre tradition and presenting it in a fresh and accessible way. One of the ways that she has found during independent research since around 2018 is that Indonesians bond profoundly and profusely over food. Rachmania is inspired by contemporary Indonesian artists who have explored the intersection; such as Melati Suryodarmo’s Butter Dance, Mella Jarsma’s I Eat You Eat Me, FX Harsono’s Pistol Kerupuk, Krisna Murti’s Makan Tidak Mengenal Ras and Natasha Tontey’s Makan Mayit.
