Josh is a dancer by trade, having gained his BA from Rambert School. While overseas, he danced with Arielle Smith, Thick&Tight, London Fashion Week, Yorke Dance Project, Antler Theatre, and Compagnia Zappala Danza. Since returning to Sydney in 2021, he has continued to work as a freelance dancer, with choreographers such as Xanthe Geeves, Dean Walsh and Sue Healey.
The bulk of Josh's movement practice is choreographic, and is informed by a passion for queer-centric, interdisciplinary approaches. He collaborates frequently with musicians and visual artists, such as Andrew Batt-Rawden, Nicholas Vines, Rob Hao, Jasper Fearnley, and Isabelle Hayman, and also has a drag alter-ego ‘Jiggy’ that he draws on during creation and performance. Josh’s work aims to challenge the seriousness of contemporary dance, blending comedic and participatory approaches with rigorous physicality and exploration. His choreography has been performed at Central st. Martins, The Anya Linden Theatre, The Seymour Centre, ESCAC by BrandX, NIDA and Newcastle Fringe Festival.
