For over 20 years The Living Room Theatre (LRT) has been developing an immersive, sensory-rich and non-narrative body of work that confronts the beauty and pain of the everyday life, presented in hurt and abandoned places.
LRT explores the role of performers in relation to ensemble, space and oneself, through collective understanding of trauma and recognising violence in plain sight. LRT produces performance that is warm, caring and full of wonder; it builds an emotional connection that inhibits the audience long after the performance has concluded.
Our work exists at the intersection of social justice and artistic practice, drawing on the rich traditions in western and south Asian cannons to reveal the underlying experiences and dynamics of power, gender, space/site and expression.
