About
Tia Mavanie is a non-binary multidisciplinary artist whose practice centres a fascination with nature, relationships, gender and the effects of cultural hybridisation. Mavanie’s art is directly linked to their experience of diaspora growing up in Australia as an Indigenous Assyrian from Iran. Mavanie uses art to explore identity and belonging through their Mesopotamian ancestry, interpersonal relationships and current affairs including race relations and environmental connection.
