About

Eric Jiang is a Chinese-Australian artist based in Sydney. Their practice spans poetry, short fiction, film and theatre, while complicating and contemplating queer futures, family and friendship.

Their poetry appears in Liminal, Cordite, Going Down Swinging, Peril and more. He has also edited and written exhibition texts for The Waiting Room Project, a site-specific art space located in the Sydney Sexual Health Centre.

Eric has participated in playwriting development programs including National Studio and Fresh Ink, both facilitated by the Australian Theatre for Young People. His first full-length play Rhomboid, will premiered on KXT on Broadway in August 2023. He also presented ORIGIN STORY, a 40-minute play for the Kitchen Sink Festival at Flightpath Theatre.

His screen work has been displayed at Shopfront's Artslab Residency, The Waiting Room Project, and recently directed a short film We Regret To Inform You That. He wrote and directed each of these works, which feature the interplay of choreographed movement, text and specific screen devices.
