Yuta Hagiwara is director and founder of the theater company Kamome Machine based in Tokyo. His major works include Waiting for Godot in Fukushima (2011), performed by a road just outside Fukushima’s exclusion zone, and Public Image Limited (2012), which won an AAF Drama Award. In 2016, he won the Toga Theatre Competition’s Excellence Award for Happy Days (Act Two). From 2020, he started a new series named 'Telephone Theater' which uses phone call and performer and audience connect 1on1. He made some pieces in this form including 'Moshi-Moshi, NOT I'(based on Samuel Beckett 'NOT I'),'Moshi-Moshi, Madame Simone'(text:Simone Weil 'Gravity and Grace').
