About
Sonya Holowell is an Indigenous Australian vocalist working across new, experimental and improvised genres. Favouring ambiguity over expressionism, she uses vast techniques and gestures to explore the voice’s material and conceptual potential. She is drawn to interdisciplinary collaboration and her production with designer Elia Bosshard, THREE VOICES, won the Critics’ Choice Award, Sydney Fringe Festival 2017. Sonya’s national and international performances include Resonant Bodies Festival, Sydney Biennale, Sydney and Adelaide Festivals, soundSCAPE (Italy) and Banff Centre (Canada).
