About

Natesha Somasundaram is an experienced writer and performer for both theatre and television. Their most recent screenwriting credits include the upcoming series “Heartbreak High” (Netflix), “Upright” (Foxtel), as well as “The Unlisted” (2019) and “Get Krack!n” (2019).  Their debut play “Jeremy and Lucas Buy a F*cking House” was nominated for Best Writing at the 2019 Green Room Awards. They were also a resident playwright at MTC from 2017-2019. Their style has been described as ‘ludicrous  and mind-bendingly smart’ (Griffin Artistic Director Declan Greene on Jeremy and Lucas buy a Fucking House).

Natesha made their directorial debut in 2021 with their animated short film “Eggs Cannot Fly”, funded and supported by Film Victoria and Epic Games and produced by LateNite films. As a seasoned theatrical performer, as well as having had extensive experience directing their own theatrical work, Natesha has a unique and collaborative approach to direction that is informed by their background in live performance. After completing a Bachelor of Performing Arts with Monash University in 2016 they performed in Oh No! Satan Stole My Pineal Gland (Melbourne Fringe Festival 2019) and Mad as a Cute Snake (Theatreworks 2019).

As of 2025, Natesha continues to devise and perform in original and chaos-fuelled cabaret acts at The Bearded Tit, Tropical Fruits and Cooked Chooks. Natesha has been profiled in Liminal Magazine and Film Ink, and they have had creative essays published in Liminal Magazine and Headthreads Magazine.
