Jingwei Bu is an Australian-based emerging visual artist. Jingwei’s practice draws on a range of artistic traditions including figurative, abstraction, sculpture, installation, performance art and video art which references both Western and Eastern cultural traditions. Her earliest art practice is Chinese traditional charcoal powder portrait drawing.
Since commencing studies in contemporary art in Germany a decade ago, Bu now pursues a range of approaches to art making and finding expression for her inner energy. She counts art as her fourth language and her fifth country of residence after China, England, Germany and, most recently, Australia.
Bu was awarded the James Martin Award for a high-achieving Bachelor of Visual Art graduate with BVA from Adelaide Central School of Art in 2021.
She has exhibited in China, Germany and Adelaide, including Collective Haunt Inc, FELTspace, the Mill Adelaide, the Main Gallery and has been a studio resident at Nexus Art in 2022.
