Janet Carter’s lived experiences working extensively for her LGBTQIA+ community as an artist/technician with organisations like Mardi Gras, Perth Pride, and Leather Pride have shaped her art practice. Janet is focused on creating collaborative, non-gallery based, transient participatory works that are concerned with creating more liveable lives in an increasingly precarious world.
Project Description
Janet will research working within personal spaces in ways that recognise and interrogate difference, looking at how spaces that enable us to feel safe and protected can work to exclude others, or force them to adapt or assimilate in order to enter those spaces.
