About

HOSSEI, a mid-career Australian artist of Persian descent based on Wangal Country in Sydney, specialises in video, performance, costume making, installation, and painting. He completed a Bachelor of Visual Arts (Honours) at Sydney College of the Arts in 2010. His work explores the emotional impact of the human voice, influenced by Persian heritage, dreams, intuition, and pop music. Recently awarded the 2022 UTS Artist in Residence, HOSSEI's art delves into themes of healing through his mother's experiences, contributing to discussions on Australian identity. He was commissioned by West Space for the exhibition "THUNDERBLOOM" in 2023 and then commissioned "THUNDERBLOOM-LIVE" for Performance Space in 2024.
