Giselle Stanborough is an intermedia performance artist whose works often combine embodied experience with digital platforms to address how user generated media encourage us to identify and perform notions of self, and the relationship between connectivity and isolation in an age of technologically mediated consumer capitalism.
Project description
Giselle Stanborough is undertaking research during the fellowship to deliver as a Zoom performance lecture, interrogating the politics of ‘liveness’ in online video conferencing. Giselle takes the descriptor ‘live’ not merely as a reference to real-time interaction, but literally, as the entry point to examine these technologies as the biopolitical control of life, and its intersection with control over death as the necroeconomics of COVID and techno capitalist structures.
