DANDROGYNY’s core, playfully calls us to notice the performed nature of hyper masculinity and its toxic implications. Daniel Newell, creator of ‘Drodge’ is a dancer, maker, performance artist, educator and graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts, DANDROGYNY cat-walks the fine-eyeliner of the pop cultural and political. Worlding dance and experimental Performance Art they’ve created solid prominence within so-called-‘australia’s’ queer ecology. Their work can be defined as creatively chaotic and cathartic, often outing itself as homo-erratic. Having performed in over twenty countries, highlights include working with ABC’s - You Can’t Ask That, Melbourne Festival, Shelley Lasica, Deanne Butterworth, Joel Bray Dance, Dance Massive, Chunky Move, Warrnambool Art Gallery, Midsumma Festival, PRIDE, Bollywood, SWAY & Kylie Minogue. Daniel’s practice holds strong advocacy for community access, LGBTQIA+ awareness and diversity - highlighting the creation of new and engaging performance perspectives.
