Amber Liberté is an experimental multidisciplinary artist and choreographs, directs and performs in theatrical, film & gallery settings. Recent works include: Alt-Arkaeology (dance-film, 2021), Shut Eye (feature film, 2021), Magnificent Remains (dance-theatre, 2021), and Standing In The Threshold (between the void & light) (dance-theatre work for Footnote Dance Company, 2021).
Amber has been a finalist director/choreographer in four international film competitions (Utah Dance Film Festival, Melbourne Indie Film Festival, Chicago Fashion Film Festival, Paris Play Film Festival and Clipped Music Video Festival) for works: Catalyst (2017), After The Fact (2019), Open Space (2020), Cascade (2021), and Better Daze (2021), respectively. She has also choreographed on various music videos including up & coming musician McK (Honest Mess & Muse, Jack Panther (Feels Right) Marlin's Dreaming (Sink or Swim) and UK producer Origamibiro (Cascade). She has been mentored by some of NZ's most established practitioners: Alexa Wilson (Experimental Dance Week), Red Leap Theatre, Ross McCormack (Muscle Mouth), Julia Harvie (MAP), Alyx Duncan (dance-film), and Nisha Madhan (Programming manager at The Basement Theatre & Theatre-maker).
She is interested in reimagining new futures, political/sociological art, and site specific work, exploring the various mediums and/or disciplines
