Performance Space presents
LIVE DREAMS
CALL FOR ARTIST PROPOSALS
Applications close 5pm, Tuesday 1 September 2020
Live Dreams is a new series of curated events for our 2020 Liveworks Festival of Experimental Art, in which artists present their works- and-ideas-in-progress to test them with live audiences, receive feedback and discuss their next steps.
This year, the creative development of experimental work in familiar physical spaces - rehearsal rooms, studios, theatres, and via travel and residencies—has necessarily ceased. Performance Space is striving to support artists to continue creatively developing their work and honing their practice, often in inventive and resourceful new ways.
There are five curated streams of LIVE DREAMS:
IMPOSSIBLE
Curated by Anna Tregloan
Anna Tregloan’s Impossible Project surveys works that have been deemed
impossible, creating an archive of unrealised ambitions and an exploration
into the possibilities of impossibility.
ALWAYS
Curated by Hannah Donnelly, open to First Nations artists
The end of your art world isn’t the end of ours. Things are going to be always
now. First Nations artists share from a future they care for.
UTOPIA
Curated by Performance Space
Works that imagine the best and worst versions of our future world, and the
possibilities and pitfalls of reinventing our social, cultural and political
structures.
CATASTROPHE
Curated by Performance Space
Works that seek to grapple with, refuse, resolve or revel in the multiple layers
of catastrophe we are experiencing.
WONDER
Curated by Performance Space
Works that seek to imagine the world anew, seek beauty in the everyday, or
find hope in unlikely places.
