Live Dreams is a series of curated performance events across three nights, in which artists present their works- and-ideas-in-progress to test them with live audiences, receive feedback and discuss their next steps. Artists can be in the room with us at Carriageworks or present digitally, as well audiences will be physically present and able to watch remotely.
Last year, global events created enormous instability and uncertainty for experimental arts practice. In response, Performance Space created Live Dreams, a new platform for artists to share works-in-progress and ideas in development in a dynamic and responsive environment. Taking place both in physical space and online, Live Dreams enables artists and audiences to continue connecting with each other across borders and geographic space. The Liveworks edition of Live Dreams was an exciting glimpse into current developments in experimental art, and we are excited to be continuing this program throughout the course of 2021.
There are three curated streams of LIVE DREAMS:
Works that seek to dismantle current norms and systems, exploding ideas of what is, so that it can no longer be.
Works that reconstruct spaces and ideas that have been lost, dismantled or stolen, or that propose what should exist instead.
Works that delve deeply into unbridled and unapologetic pleasure and joy, feasting on ideas of indulgence and prosperity.
