Every evening of Liveworks, bask in this free program of musical serenades from the balconies of Carriageworks. Curated by the extraordinary musician and curator Genevieve Lacey, Liveworks Serenades will infuse Carriageworks’ arresting public space with reflective warmth and unexpected sonic encounters.
Six remarkable sound makers, alone and in duo, will serenade us from above: mindfully separate from their public, but filling the resonant building with hope. Sounds are passed from one set of hands, lips, ears to another over a seven-chapter, real-time composition. Join William Barton (voice and didgeridoo), Véronique Serret (violin), Satsuki Odamura (koto), Jane Sheldon (voice), Phil Slater (trumpet), Simon Barker (drums) and Jim Atkins (sound design) for a series of poetic elegies to our crumbling world, and to the conjuring of a new one: multi-voiced, visionary, and built of sound.
