Calling all lovers of dance! Join us at Liveworks and dance along the experimental edge. This year’s program sees four established movement artists present new and dynamic works.
Rinse
Amrita Hepi
27 - 30 Oct
$45 - $35
What is it about the beginning that remains intoxicating? Our persistent lust for the first rush of a romance, scene, canon, theory, relationship, meal or country. Created by extraordinary dance artist Amrita Hepi, Rinse explores the romance of beginnings and what happens next, when those initial thrills begin to fade and inertia takes over.
Follies of God
Raghav Handa
20 - 23 Oct
$45 - $35
Following its acclaimed debut as a work-in-progress finalist at the 2022 Keir Choreographic Award, Follies of God sees celebrated Sydney-based dance artist Raghav Handa collaborate with sound artist James Brown to explore the complexities of the Gita and its many interpretations through the ages, illuminating uneasy truths about the very human impulse to manipulate language in order to exercise power. Handa’s sharp and inventive choreography is set against sung and narrated Sanskrit verses, manipulated live to create a sonic expansion of space.
Hundreds + Thousands
Luke George & Daniel Kok
21 - 23 Oct
$45 - $35
Hundreds + Thousands is a performance for humans and their plant companions, created and performed by the artists and their plant collaborators. Blending choreography, experimental music and installation—all co-created with a vast array of plant species—Hundreds + Thousands blurs the boundaries between people and the rest of the natural world of which we are but a small part.
