Performance Space is on the hunt for volunteers to assist with creating and pulling of our annual Liveworks Festival of Experimental Art.

This year Performance Space takes over Carriageworks from the 17th to the 27th of October. Packed with performances, installations, workshops, conversations and lectures, Liveworks will dazzle, engage and inspire with innovative new work by acclaimed Australian and international artists.

As a volunteer you’ll get the chance to be apart of Australia’s leading experimental arts festival and help create memorable experiences for our audiences. You will also get free tickets to events, discounted tickets for your friends and family and the chance to see some exciting new works.

We are looking for volunteers who are friendly, warm and welcoming. Our volunteers are the face of Liveworks for all of our audiences helping them in the venue, checking tickets, ushering and being friendly or assisting back stage, looking after after artists or helping to create sets and props.

Volunteers will need to do be able to work 4 shifts over the festival and be available to attend a volunteer briefing night from 5.30pm on Monday 8th October. Some volunteers may be assigned to a production and will volunteer only for that production.



Front of House
This includes Invigilation of exhibitions, performances. This can involve; greeting visitors, offering them information about the work and answering questions about the artist and their work. Being approachable and welcoming and make sure people have an information sheet/program.Volunteers are often assist at Front of House to collect/distribute tickets, give pass outs or wristbands and mark guests from RSVP or VIP lists. Experience working in customer service, front of house or in events would be very helpful.

Before events begin Performance Space often needs assistance installing work and creating sets. This varies from project to project but can involve painting, light installation and moving items.
Production volunteers may also be assigned to a particular production and work with that production team by assisting the stage managers during the events with props, audience flow and artist movements. Backstage and Stage Management experience would be very beneficial.
