Gather with us to re-imagine the future in 2020.

Here at PSpace we are finally gearing up to announce our big plan that has been bubbling away all year: a plan to create something meaningful and positive in response to the chaos of this year… Liveworks 2020!

Liveworks 2020 is a radical transformation of Performance Space's award-winning Liveworks Festival of Experimental Art, responding to the turbulence and instability of our current moment through artistic leadership, creative thinking and supported gathering.

Over 5 days in October, Liveworks 2020 will occur both in-person—in our newly-reopened home at Carriageworks—as well as digitally through our brand-new digital channel, Live On the Line.

We will celebrate the value of liveness, explore this new social and cultural landscape, and imagine new possibilities for public gathering. We’re excited to host a range of artist-led assemblies that creatively re-imagine what gatherings look like and what they can do for us.

Liveworks 2020 will generate important and exploratory conversations about the future, showcase the inner workings of creative development, and present new work that will invite participation and re-imagine our culture, through three distinctive streams:

LIVE NOW
Ambitious new experimental artworks that gather us together in new ways.

LIVE DREAMS
A platform for works-in-progress and ideas-in-development that point towards the future of artistic practice.

LIVE FUTURES
A series of public conversations that will explore the future we are moving toward, and artists’ contributions to creating it.

You can gather with us in person, in our home at Carriageworks or, for the first time in 2020, digitally!

Live on the Line
Our brand-new digital channel will be broadcasting projects from the above program streams to online audiences across the world.

Bringing our beloved local, national and international audiences along on the journey, Liveworks 2020 will also include:

Live Exchange
A collaboration with the Australian Performing Arts Market (APAM) to engage national and international sector colleagues.

In this climate of uncertainty, PSpace will make a positive contribution to re-imagining the role of art in shaping our vision for our future world. In 2020 we centre the importance of gatherings and the connections, cultures and conversations embedded within them.
