Initiated in 2017 by Taipei Arts Centre the Asia Discovers Asia Meeting brings together West Kowloon Cultural District (HK), Performance Space (AU), Esplanade-Theatres on the Bay (SG) and Creative New Zealand to form a new network for artistic development and international collaboration in contemporary performance.
The initiative consists of an Artist Lab, which brings together 10 practitioners from across the region to participate in a two-week program in Taipei and an Annual Meeting. The discursive and studio-based Artist Lab will encourage artists to work together and aims to pave the way for future partnerships.
The fortnight will culminate in the ADAM Annual Meeting, a four-day program of public events bringing together all consortium partners, as well as independent producers and artists from across the region. This platform will include performances, work-in-progress showings by Lab artists, as well as roundtable discussions, keynote lectures and a screening programme designed to explore and discuss the pressing socio-political issues facing contemporary performance in Asia.
