Performance Space and Carriageworks present

First aired as part of Liveworks Festival of Experimental Art 2021, we are making this special conversation available for the duration of Ecdysis, currently open at Carriageworks until January 30th 2022.

Gain a deeper insight into this intimate work, Ecdysis, as Cherine Fahd discusses its themes, origin and process with project curators Daniel Mudie Cunningham (Carriageworks) and Jeff Khan (Performance Space).

Ecdysis is an enthralling performance-for-video installation that expands on recurring themes of intimacy, portraiture and desire that propel Fahd’s practice. The work also marks a major turning point in Fahd’s artistic trajectory and has informed a new body of performances and moving image works, created in the wake of both Ecdysis and the COVID-19 pandemic. In each of these works, Fahd creates intimate situations that play out for a camera’s gaze—and where the camera is a proxy for both the artist and the audience.

Join Fahd, Cunningham and Khan for this first glimpse of Ecdysis, and to reflect on the changing nature of our physical and emotional ties—with ourselves and with each other.

Performance Space and Carriageworks will present the full video installation of Ecdysis in late 2021-early 2022.

Duration: 90 minutes

This event will be available on-demand until Midnight 30th January 2022.
