Yolanda Frost

Yolanda Frost (b. 1996) is a multi-instrumentalist, performance artist, aerial performer, DJ and life model whose practice is driven by rhythm and improvisation to create raw, electric and memorable episodes. 

When she breaks from the restraint of classical life modelling, Yolanda is a high energy performer and DJ in clubs and festivals. Spanning genderfuck drag, aerial shows and go-go dancing with an animalistic streak, Frost attains trance in drag as a spiritual form to ground her in her experimental ritualising. A legendary Sydney exhibitionist, she can be found straddling subwoofers at dawn. As a solo musician she draws from a swathe of instrumentation to orchestrate transportive sonic movements, from ambient synth drones to pulsating trance rhythms.

She often delights punters by transforming unsuspecting interior furnishings into percussion instruments. Frost opens portals through weaving her drag and music together. Her DJ persona GODOFSEXKINGOFACID is a cultural missile, exploding on impact with kaleidoscopic internationalism that heaves with faggy Latino house, gay circuit trash, Baile Funk, anthropological recordings and a buffet of SWANA wedding music.

Her Greek heritage informs the spirit of her movement, growing up learning folk circle dances, she cites the ancient Goddess cults as inspiration and is deeply influenced by many music teachers over the years, from the Balkans, Burma, Ghana, Brazil, Colombia, Cuba, and Bedouin mountains. Frost is an avid musical improviser, provocateur, and percussive specialist whose higher purpose consists in being a good and clear channel for the spirit.
