Shirin Shakhesi

Shirin Shakhesi is an Iranian-Australian new media artist and animator based on Djaara Country in regional Victoria. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) in Animation from the University of Melbourne (VCA). Her multidisciplinary practice spans animation, video installation, digital painting, and projection-based performance, exploring the intersections of environment, identity, and perception. Blending narrative and abstraction, Shirin creates immersive visual experiences that invite audiences to engage sensorially and reflect on transformation, memory, and belonging. Drawing from Persian literature and her diasporic experience, her work bridges technology, nature, and human emotion, revealing the tension between the digital and the organic.
