Agustin Elaskar
Agustin Elaskar is a multidisciplinary experimental performer whose practice encompasses improvisation, somatic and contemporary dance, installation and multimedia explorations. His research orbits the intersection of queer identity, migration, nostalgia, ecosexuality and embodied pleasure following a period of enforced patriarchal and religious upbringing.
Gracefully chaotic, ‘a bundle of frantic abundance on the dance floor’ and a highly effervescent and quirky mover, Agustin’s bodily curiosity is constantly receptive to opportunities to conceptualise and materialise creative portal openings. By expressing through elements of nature, the senses, he explores ways to access our collective sensorial memory to evoque remembrance, honour ancestral multicultural and transcontinental lineages and to provoque disruption against standardised and hegemonic systems that attempts to erase the innate drive for life and perpetuity.
Having migrated from Valle de Huentata (so called Mendoza, Argentina) in 2018, he landed in Gadigal land (Sydney), where he currently works and lives. He lived temporarily in Bundjalung Country, where his practice catapulted thanks to the abundant creative energy and mentoring the area offered. He has participated in devising and developing a number of collaborative workshops. In 2023, he was selected to participate at the PACT Lab ‘Play, Practice, Explore’. In 2025, he was a resident at AMAZÓNICA, in Iquitos, Peru. He has performed at Tropical Fruits, SeeSpace, ‘Social Muscle Club’ at Bleach Festival, PACT, Galore ‘Revolution’, Barba, Temperance Hall, Loose Ends and On the Cusp.
