CARRIAGEWORKS

Site Access

  • An access ramp leading to the main entrance is located at street level at 245 Wilson Street.
  • Accessible parking is available at the end of Carriageworks Way. Enter via 229 Wilson Street.
  • Taxis can enter at 229 Wilson Street for level access entry.
  • The closest train station with wheelchair access is Newtown Station.

Facilities and Services

  • The Carriageworks car park includes four mobility parking spaces.
  • Accessible toilets are located off the public space within the main building.
  • Service animals are welcome throughout the precinct.
  • Carriageworks does not have a hearing loop.

ACCESS AND INCLUSION

Booking

  • To enable us to assist with booking the most suitable performances we advise you to get in touch with us directly, via phone or email. When booking any tickets, please inform staff of any access requirements so we can ensure your full engagement with the digital content.

Companion Card Program

  • PSpace supports the Companion Card program. For patrons who require the assistance of a companion, personal assistant or support worker, a second ticket is issued at no cost to the Companion Card holder.

Liveworks 2025

Low-Sensory Space

  • A low-sensory space will be available throughout Liveworks for any patrons seeking a quiet, calm environment to rest, regulate or reset.

Wheelchair Accessibility and Seating.

  • All events are wheelchair accessible. Seating is available for all events; however, seating is limited for WHO CARES?! and Ground on Ground. Please email admin@performancespace.com.au to let us know of any accessibility needs regarding seating. We recommend contacting us at least 72 hours prior to the performance to make sure we have ample time to accommodate your access requirements.


Auslan Interpretation

  • Auslan interpretation will be provided for one performance each of three of our shows: Working Class Clown (Thursday 23rd October at 6pm) and The Queer Woodchop (Saturday 25 October at 1pm).
  • The Queer Woodchop: Auslan Interpretation will be provided for the Saturday 25 October performance.

    Audio Description will be provided for Sunday 26 October performance (headphones provided), preceded by a Tactile Tour of the set and costumes for patrons who are blind or have low vision.

    Please email admin@performancespace.com.au to let us know of any accessibility requirements. We recommend contacting us at least 72 hours prior to the performance to make sure we have ample time to accommodate your access requirements.
     

Audio Description

  • Audio description for people who are blind or have low vision will be integrated into Sunday 26 October's 6pm performance of The Queer Woodchop. All audience members can enjoy additional commentary of the performance's visual elements without any need for headphones. 

Tactile Tours

  • People who are blind or have low vision are welcome to register for our Tactile Tours, available to attendees 30mins before the following performances: Working Class Clown (Friday 24 October at 6pm) and The Queer Woodchop (Sunday 26 October from 5.30-6pm).
  • During our Tactile Tours patrons will be given a guided opportunity to touch and examine elements of the set before attending the performance.

Other Offerings

  • Long Sentences: A pdf of the script can be made available upon request for ticket holders who are deaf or hard of hearing. Please email requests to access@performancespace.com.au at least 72 hours prior to the performance.
     
  • Sticky Hands Stitched Mountains: English surtitles will be shown on a screen to accompany all text presented in the show. 
     
  • Ground on Ground: Speakers can be made available to touch for people who are deaf or hard of hearing. Please email requests to admin@performancespace.com.au to register your interest in engaging in the performance in this way. We recommend contacting us at least 72 hours prior to the performance to make sure we have ample time to accommodate your access requirements.
