Residency Program
As part of Performance
Space's commitment to supporting dynamic
collaborative processes between artists,
we offer a residency program for independent
artists, artistic teams and small companies
collaborating across disciplines, technologies
and/or artforms to create new performative
work. The Residency Program uses in-house
resources to support both R + D and creative
development of new work.

Current Residencies
SHAMELESSLY GLITZY WORK Winners of this year's Melbourne Fringe Festival, POST a dynamic trio of seriously funny-bleak performers, will develop their next work about the art of lying. POST have dug into the psyche of hyper-controlled femininity and will double this with a look at the science of lying, the physicality of disguising the truth and the relationship between the deceiver and the deceived. THERE GOES THE NEIGHBOURHOOD In partnership with the Redfern Community Centre Keg de Souza, Zanny Begg and SquatSpace will work with community participants to build a picture of the gentrification underway in Redfern. Using collaborative processes this residency will underpin the research for a larger global art exhibition for Performance Space in 2009, to capture people's experience of neighbourhoods around the world. LADYKILLERS VS HOPE DIAMOND: BASED ON A TRUE STORY Performance makers meet swamp rock band in a collaboration featuring writer Stefan Lazczuk. This residency of Adelaide and Melbourne based artists is the beginning of a new performance project, investigating the theme of 'fathers' using narrative threads in Hope Diamond's songs and the theatrical language of Ladykillers. A SIDE TO ONE In partnership with Critical Path, Craig Bary and Lisa Griffiths will continue their exploration of dance and projection, joined by sound and video artist Adam Synnott. First seeded at Critical Path in 2007 through the Responsive Research Program, this residency will enable a creative development of a score, consolidating a duet for screen and live space.
