LIVEWORKS 2017 | TREE OF KNOWLEDGE
PRESENTED BY PERFORMANCE SPACE
THURS 19 OCT, 7:30PM
FRI 20 OCT, 7:30PM
SAT 21 OCT, 2PM & 7:30PM
SUN 22 OCT, 5:30PM
Acclaimed Indigenous artist Christian Thompson presents Tree of Knowledge: a rich solo performance that transforms dreams, memories and aspirations into surreal gestures, invoking a world where tradition, pop culture and media continually collide.
Bringing together song, spoken word, sculpture, video and movement, Tree of Knowledge draws on Thompson’s own personal biography as well as a wide palette of references—from pop music to contemporary art and cultural practices. Tree of Knowledge is a rare opportunity to witness Thompson’s live performance practice in full effect: a startling, humorous and confronting insight into contemporary Indigenous reality (and fantasy).
Tree of Knowledge contains adult themes, strobe lights, and haze. Recommended for ages 13+. Please note that latecomers will not be admitted. Duration of 45 minutes.
19 October, 7:30PM – AUSLAN interpreted performance. See our accessibility page for more information.
