At Performance Space we forge the future of experimental art.

We have been nurturing the cutting edge of contemporary practice for over 35 years, providing space for artists to fearlessly test ideas, push boundaries and create ambitious new work. We develop this work at every stage of its life and present it to tens of thousands of audience members each year.

Last year support from donors allowed us to achieve great things including supporting artists from across Australia and the Asia pacific, commissioning new large scale works from First Nations artists, captivating more than 54,000 audience members across the year, ensuring 50% of projects at Liveworks were led by women and supporting 60 LGBTQIA+ artists through the year.

In 2019 with your support we will:

Commission more Australian work
In 2019 with new support we will co-commission 3 new large-scale installation and performance projects led by local women artists for presentation during Liveworks. We are proud of the work we commission and need your support commission more artists to create new work of scale.

Expand our artist residency and workshop programs
This year we identified a need from the community for the growth of our Queer Development Program. With new supporters behind us we were able to extend our workshop intensive and create more presentation opportunities. With your support we can continue to grow our development programs and support more artists to explore ideas and push the boundaries.

Grow new international connections for Australian artists
Last year our delegates program grew significantly to include almost 100 industry leaders from around the globe. Support of this program has led to future international touring opportunities for artists and with your support in 2019 we’ll continue to carve new opportunities for Australian artists through our delegates program.

Support from donors is invaluable in growing our work, nurturing our artists and increasing our impact on experimental practice. Donors are an integral part of our history and we need this support to strengthen our future.
