Blak Artists Kinection is a new development program for young and emerging arts workers (artists, curators, producers or writers) based in NSW. Presented by Performance Space and Moogahlin Performing Arts, Blak Artists Kinection aims to build a stronger Blak arts network across the state through a series of discussion, networking and professional development sessions across the year.

Following an incredible response to our call out – we’ve selected the following First Peoples artists:

Sonya Holowell (Sydney-based)

Liam Keenan (Sydney-based)

Sara Khan (Sydney-based)

Bernice Mumbulla (Sydney-based)

Taree Sansbury (Sydney-based)

Kassidy Georgia Waters (Central Coast-based)

We’re excited to be working with this incredible selection of performers, musicians, writers and dancers across the year. Throughout 2018, the participants will come together five times for a two-day program of discussion, networking and professional development. Built around themes and topics nominated by the participants, the program this year includes:

Session one:
Introduction to the program, talking about your practice, local tour of Redfern with Aunty Donna and a workshop with local senior artists.

Session two:
Introduction to the visual arts and performing arts landscape in Sydney with guest speakers.

Session three:
Masterclass with Moogahlin Performing Arts focused on navigating cultural identity and heritage in our practice.

Session four:
Liveworks Festival of Experimental Art with a group workshop and panel discussion.

Session five:
Individual presentation from the participants and a debrief.

We’ll continue to share snapshots of the program on our social media across the year!
